If you are unfamiliar with firearms and want your permit to carry, or just want to learn how to be safe when you go to the range and practice, this is where you want to start. This class is designed for new shooters and covers the terminology of firearms, how they work, a little basic history, and teaches safe weapon handling and storage. This class is designed for students that are already familiar with firearms. If you need an intro please take our "Firearms 101" class before attempting this one. Range tests will not be given until students can demonstrate safe weapon handling and familiarity. It will be an in-depth discussion of Minnesota Statute 624.714, the MN Citizens Personal Protection Act. Other topics include the mechanics of daily carry, what happens during and after a defensive gun use, and routine police encounters.
Covers all class and range fees (lane rental, eye and ear protection, target). Students are responsible for ammunition.
